A lattice boltzmann method for wave propagation

LOGO We study a lattice Boltzmann model to simulate and predict, on a massively parallel computer, wave propagation in urban environments. This technique naturally takes into account complicated boundary condition. Two-dimensional simulations are performed starting from a city map and a renormalization scheme is proposed to extend our results to three dimensions and adjust the wave length. Our method, which is simple and easy to implement provides good path loss predictions when compared with in-situ measurements. Another promising application derived from our wave model is concerned with craks propagation in solid.
